Update: Use Office documents directly as input file

The wake2e website has been updated. From now on, input files can  be uploaded to wake2e in Office file format.

In addition to the familiar CSV files spreadsheet documents in Microsoft Excel format (file extension ".xlsx") and LibreOffice format (file extension ".ods") can now also be uploaded. Thus, the previous export of spreadsheets from the Office program to CSV is no longer necessary.

Update: Calculation variants and improved constraint groups in the report

The wake2e website has been updated. Version 3.11-24 adds the calculation variants to the report and improves the display of constraints (BBS). In addition, the usability of the wake2e application has been improved in several places:

  • Section 2.5 "Calculation Variants" has been added to the report, providing a quick overview of the different calculation variants.

Update: Improved calculation with full evaluation of site suitability

Version 3.10-20 of the wake2e software allows wake2e users to perform a complete assessment of the site suitability of planned wind turbines. To achieve this, a comprehensive database with the complete design values of the most common WT types has been provided for wake2e. Thus, the design values required for the evaluation of site suitability can be specified directly during the calculation. For planned wind turbines it is recommended to use a complete design instead of the usual turbulence intensity setting.

Update: Pitch-controlled optimization of your wind farm project

The wake2e-Version 3.9-19 released today enables users to optimize the loads in the wind farm by adjusting the blade pitch angle degree by degree.

The manufacturer ENERCON has released more than 500 additional characteristic curves for a total of 26 different wind turbines. This makes it possible to adjust the curtailments for these wind turbines for each sector and for every wind speed in a way that the associated energy losses are minimized.

Update: Corine 2018

The European Environment Agency (EEA)  CORINE dataset on land use in Europe has been updated to the latest version 20, finalised in June 2019. With the upgrade of the data set from version 18.5 to version 20, the data has been changed  from 2012 (CLC2012) to the data from 2018 (CLC2018). As expected, the 6-year cycle will result in some changes to the data set.

Further information on the data can be found, for example, in the "CLC2018 Technical Guideline" of the EEA (Service Contract No 3436/R0-Copernicus/EEA.56665).

Update: Extended pdf-report

The wake2e version 3.9-18 released today brings two new topics to the PDF report: Tables with alternative curtailments as well as an overview of the five closest active neighbours of each WT.

Alternative Curtailments

If a WT is protected by cutting off a neighbouring WT, the WT to be protected may alternatively be cut off itself. If an operating mode is used as curtailment, the curtailed WT or the WT to be protected may alternatively be cut off.
These alternative curtailments are now shown in additional tables in the report.

Update: User-defined calculation variants and curtailment groups

Wake2e version 3.9-15, released today, provides user-defined calculation variants and grouping of curtailments.

User-defined calculation variants

The calculation variants introduced in version 3.9-14 have been extended: Now it is possible to add your own calculation variants in addition to the predefined variants "Situation prior to WT installation (prior case)" and "Situation after WT installation (default case)".
